MEET OUR... BRUNO MARS
Andres Cruz
Andres journey began in Aruba, where he is originally from. He was 12 when he first became seriously interested in music after starting to learn guitar. During the next few years, he also learnt the keyboard, started singing, and even began writing his own songs. Andres was so passionate about music, he decided to focus on a career in the industry.
His first gigs were in an outdoor shopping centre in Aruba, but shortly after he moved to England with his parents to continue his education. Andres was accepted into the Hertfordshire College of Music in Ware, and studied hard, alongside playing as many open mic nights as he could find! HCM also hosted their own monthly open mic event, and it was here that Shane Lee Smith (Director/MD/Producer) first heard Andres perform Bruno Mars’ track, ‘When I Was Your Man’. Shane loved the sound of it, and spoke to Andres briefly about putting together a Bruno Mars tribute with
Andres as the main man! It was a bit of a daunting offer given what a phenomenal performer Bruno is, but Andres was more than up for it! Shane also invited Andres to play keyboard for a Motown tribute show called Get Ready. This really helped Andres gain valuable experience performing in a theatre environment, and seeing the logistics of how everything worked. Shane contacted Andres regarding a showcase opportunity, and from then on, Andres said; ‘It’s been a rollercoaster ride, creating the show and getting it to where it is today. It’s been hard work, but so much fun working with an awesome bunch of people, and I’m so excited to finally get on that stage and perform for you all!’
This is just the beginning for me!’
